TIVDIO V-111 Mod1

Just finished the first mod to the TIVDIO V-111 radio.
So naturally I had to show it off.

TIVDIO V-111 radio quick look

I have been waiting for some bits to arrive from eBay.
A few weeks ago I ordered a VITE VT-111, well it arrived as a
TIVDIO V-111 same radio with I think one new button ie Mute
next to the On/Off button.

Tivdio-V-111

I bought this cheap ultralight radio, with a eye to doing some modifications to it.
(well mostly Shelley and anyone else with eyesight I can find will be doing the work)
Nice radio but after adding batteries, and turning it on I can see what others have
said about the VITE VT-111 holds true for this radio.

Medium Wave AM indoors is plagued with noise, birdies and general
(have I let you know it’s noisy yet)
which many people say is from a lack of internal shielding.
Good on local stuff, but forget it for barefoot dx’ing.

Others have moved the internal loop stick antenna
outside of the case with good results.

I want to take this a little further
It is a good little radio with some interesting features so why not.
I paid $21.45 AUD inc freight on eBay so not going to cry if I break it!

So as they say stay turned, and we’ll see where this goes.
So for now why are you reading this instead of listening to or transmitting on a radio?

CQ WPX RTTY 2017

CQ WPX RTTY February 11th and 12th. Looking forward to February all ready,
What a sad way to make a year go faster than it already does when you gain a few years.
But it is for a good reason RTTY you know it will be fun even it conditions are a little slow.

ARRL RTTY roundup 2017 no contacts

Well to say it was quite here for the RTTY roundup would be understating it by just a bit.
ARRL RTTY roundup 2017 no contacts
I had a few try’s on the bands a various time over the contest period.
But I never heard one workable RTTY signal, might have been me or my location but dead!
Just to check I was being heard well in the USA etc very low power JT65, on the same antenna and radio.
Hoping it improves for the CQ WPX RTTY February 11th and 12th.
